WhatsApp as the Channel

Run a draw via WhatsApp without dumping private results into the group chat

One organizer sets up the draw, Wichtlify creates personal links, and you share them deliberately in WhatsApp. That works well for parent groups, clubs, birthday plans, and other year-round group formats.

  • Use the group chat for logistics and direct messages for private links
  • Participants can continue through their personal link without mandatory account creation
  • Saved exclusions and no-self-draw rules stay active in person-based draws

Quick flow

Use WhatsApp for communication, not as the place where results get exposed

  1. 1Create the draw and lock the rules
  2. 2Announce the process in the group chat
  3. 3Send each private link in a separate WhatsApp message
  4. 4Let each person open the result privately

Why WhatsApp is often the fastest route for real groups

Many everyday groups already live in WhatsApp: parent coordinators, rec clubs, volunteer crews, neighborhood groups, and birthday planning threads. That makes it a practical place to announce the draw without asking everyone to adopt a new channel first.

The important distinction is simple: WhatsApp handles the coordination, while the actual private result stays inside each participant’s personal access area.

Keep the group chat and the personal link separate

The group chat is useful for the public part: dates, quick explanations, and reminders. The private participant link belongs in a direct message so each person receives the right access path.

That keeps the process tidy. You do not need screenshots, pasted result lists, or a messy trail of manual assignments inside the chat history.

WhatsApp is only the delivery channel; the fairness still lives in the draw

When the draw assigns people to people, Wichtlify still blocks self-draws and respects saved exclusions during the calculation. The chat tool does not replace the actual draw rules.

That matters when couples, households, close teammates, or other sensitive pairings should not land on each other by chance.

FAQ

Do I need an official WhatsApp integration for this?

No. Wichtlify creates the private participant links, and you share them yourself in WhatsApp. That keeps the ownership of each link clear.

Should I post every private link in the main group chat?

Better not. Use the group chat for the public announcement and send the personal links separately so each result stays private.

Do participants need their own account?

Not necessarily. One organizer sets the draw up, and participants can continue through their personal link in the browser.

Do exclusions and no-self-draw rules still work?

Yes. Saved exclusions are respected during the draw, and self-draws are prevented in person-to-person assignment draws.
