How we organized our gift exchange
Everyone at our get-together was meant to bring one gift. Here is how we set up the group, ran the draw and shared the links.

A casual meet-up became a secret draw
The occasion was not Christmas and not a big party. We had a friend-group meet-up planned and wanted to turn it into a small gift exchange: each person would bring one gift for exactly one other person.
Instead of drawing paper slips on the evening itself, I prepared the round beforehand. The budget was small, and the gift rule stayed simple on purpose: something personal or useful, but nothing that should become a major effort.
I created the group and set exclusions before drawing
As the organizer, I created the group and entered all names. Then I added the exclusions that mattered to us. For a few people it was clear that certain combinations would not fit, so I saved those exclusions before running the draw.
That is the part that has to be clean beforehand. After the draw, nobody wants to realize that one assignment is awkward and restart everything from scratch.
After the draw, I shared the personal links individually
I did not post in the group chat who had drawn whom. Each person received their own private link. There they saw only their own assignment, not the complete list.
I shared the links manually through the channel our group already used. Wichtlify created the assignment and provided the private links; I was responsible for sending the right link to the right person.
Wishes helped, but they were not mandatory
Some people added wishes, others did not. That was fine because the exchange was relaxed. For the people with wishes, choosing a gift was easier; for the others, the giver had to think a little more.
The useful part was that wishes did not disappear in a long chat message. Anyone who wanted to add something could do it through their own link. Still, the gift idea remained a group and personal decision, not something Wichtlify automatically solves.
At the meet-up, we no longer had to draw names
On the evening itself, the draw was no longer a topic. Everyone already knew who they were bringing a gift for. That left more time for the handover and the short explanations of why that gift was chosen.
Wichtlify did not control how we handed over the gifts or whether we later revealed who had drawn whom. Those were our group rules. For us, the important part was that the assignment was already secret and done without a public list.
What I would do again next time
I would again clarify budget, participants and exclusions first, and only then run the draw. I would set the wish deadline a little earlier, so it does not become obvious shortly before the meet-up that some people still have nothing listed.
For a visible random list, a simple open draw would have been enough. For us, it mattered that each person saw only their own result. That is exactly where the personal links were useful.
